Leadership Team

John Buckley

President & CEO

With more than 35 years of experience in the Credit Union industry, John Buckley leads TCCU in its mission to improve the lives of its membership by providing quality products and exceptional service. Buckley is recognized in the industry for managing high growth, driving results, and leading successful teams.

Previously, Buckley served as Chief Operations Officer at TCCU, responsible for the direct supervision of tellers, member services, marketing, business development and information technology. Prior to his work at TCCU, Buckley was the President/CEO at Postel Family Credit Union for 20 years, but began his career at TCCU while attending MSU in 1984. He also spent some time at Union Square Credit Union as a collector, loan officer and in the mortgage lending area.

“Serving as COO at Texoma was a homecoming of sorts. This is where I learned about the credit union difference and the driving principles of this movement. As a not for profit financial cooperative, credit unions serve the financial needs of membership in a prudent, practical and sound manner while building relationships that last for a lifetime.”

Buckley holds a BBA in Finance with a minor in Accounting from Midwestern State University. He also attended the Southwest CUNA Management School and is an Honor Graduate from the University of North Texas – Denton. Buckley is very active in the community and has held many positions on boards. He is a past president of the Wichita Falls Chapter of Credit Unions, past chairman of the CU for Kids CMN golf tournament, past board member of the Boys and Girls Club Alumni Association and past Board Chairman of First Christian Church, were he attends and is very active.

Buckley cherishes the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.” He is a member of the Optimist Club of Wichita Falls as well as past Club President and is currently serving on the boards including Southside Youth Senter, River Bend Nature Center, Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra and YMCA of Wichita Falls. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan over 30 years ago. They are blessed with two beautiful daughters.

Ken Thomason

Chief Lending Officer

Ken has enjoyed the awesome opportunity to serve as Texoma Community Credit Union’s Chief Lending Officer since 1996 and has enjoyed being with Texoma since October 1986. He supervises all lending and collection functions, managing more $130 million loan portfolio with remarkably low delinquency and charge-offs.

Ken grew up in Wichita Falls and graduated from Iowa Park High School. He studied at Midwestern State University. In 2009, he became the first TCCU employee to graduate from Southwest CUNA Management School. Ken completed Leadership Wichita Falls in 2004.

Ken fully embraces the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People Help Themselves.” He launched and has ensured TCCU has an ongoing Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University for over five years. Through FPU, hundreds of members, and non-members alike, have achieved financial stability. By paying off thousands of dollars in monthly debts and saving thousands of dollars in emergency fund money and monthly expenses, many have been able to declare “we’re debt free!” One of Ken’s greatest thrills is helping people get financial freedom and in seeing people not being slave to the lenders!

Ken married his precious wife, Kathy, in August 1986. Together they have three sons, two daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. Ken and his family are members of First Assembly of God Church where he has taught Sunday School and been a deacon for many years. He has also facilitated Financial Peace University there too. He has a remarkable knowledge of sports and has coached many youth sports teams through the YMCA. He has coached many local boys through the YMCA’s baseball and basketball programs.

Kate Donovan

Chief Financial Officer

Kate is Chief Financial Officer, responsible for investments, ALM modeling, the projection of financial success, budgeting and accounting for Texoma Community Credit Union. She was part of the original Texas 12, a Young Professional group affiliated with the Cornerstone Credit Union League. She has also served as president of the Wichita Falls Chapter of Credit Unions and been a volunteer with the Read 2 Learn program.

She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2007 with dual degrees in Finance and International Business. While attending OU, she worked for the Finance Department of the Price College of Business as a tutor for Investments and Corporate Finance. She spent six months living in Spain attending a university in Valencia and taking all of her business classes in Spanish. After graduation, she moved to her hometown of Tulsa and worked as a Financial Advisor for a year, earning her Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses as well as life and health insurance licenses.

Kate’s career began at TCCU in 2009 in Member Services. In January 2009, she began working on earning an MBA. She completed the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) program from Midwestern State University with a 4.0 in May 2011. During that time, Kate became TCCU’s first Internal Auditor before becoming the Comptroller in 2011. Shortly thereafter, she was promoted to Chief Financial Officer.

Kate enjoys cooking, exercise, travel, and chasing her young son. She and her husband, Sean, support their mutual alma mater, The University of Oklahoma as season tickets holders and enjoy attending as many of the home games as they can make. She loves her TCCU family and is thankful to be a part of an organization that continues to exceptionally serve this community.

Angie Ohmstede

Chief Operations Officer

Angie Ohmstede joined TCCU in August 2003 as a Teller. She held various positions in the credit union including Overdraft Protection Coordinator, Member Services Representative, Special Projects Admin, and nine years as Human Resources Director and Executive Assistant before she joined the executive team in 2017 as Chief Operations Officer.

Ohmstede graduated from Southwest CUNA Management School (SCMS) at Texas Christian University in 2014, receiving the highest honors. In 2018, she graduated with honors from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors in Business Management. She has a passion to serve the members and community, and to inspire innovation and creativity in others.

Angie was born and raised in Wichita Falls. She and her husband Gary have six children. Her family is very close and has strong ties to their church. In her spare time, she enjoys family sports, outdoor adventures, and the laughter that comes with being surrounded by good friends. 

Tara Neal

Chief Human Resources Officer

Tara joined TCCU in August of 2002 after graduating high school from Petrolia, Texas. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Midwestern State University in 2006. She majored in Spanish and lived in Mexico while attending college there. Tara has a distinguished credit union designation as a CUDE (Credit Union Development Educator), which provides critical lessons in cooperative principles, credit union philosophy, and international development issues while incorporating challenges credit unions face today.

Tara has held various positions at the credit union, including teller, MSR, Collector, Collections Administrator, and Assistant to the CLO before moving into her current role as Human Resources Director and Executive Assistant to the CEO. In December 2017, Tara was named Chief Human Resources officer. Tara facilitated Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University for over five years and has received Master Coach Financial Training. Education is her passion whether that be financial education, employee education, or credit union history. Tara loves to engage with the employees, and truly takes value in making sure they are taken care of!

Tara is married to her husband Scott and has three daughters and one son who keep her extremely busy outside the credit union. In her spare time, she loves to watch her girls play ball, go fishing at the lake, and spend time with her family. She is a follower of Christ and proud to share that following with others.

Community Relations

Lauren McKechnie

Marketing Director

Lauren joined TCCU in January 2016, and has called Wichita Falls home since 2012. Previous to TCCU, she worked for the American Cancer Society where she led volunteers to plan four area Relay For Life events in Wichita Falls, Graham, Seymour and Munday.

Before arriving in North Texas, she spent five years with MMI Agency, a full-service marketing firm based in Houston. There, she grew from Public Relations intern to Senior Account Executive in Public Relations, assisting clients with community relations, event planning, media relations, crisis communication, and social media. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising, and was one of thirty in her class to go through the prestigious “Texas Creative” sequence as a copywriter.

In her free time she serves as an active member of the Junior League of Wichita Falls, development committee member for Children’s Miracle Network at United Regional, and is a board member for the Arts Council. She was also honored as one of the Top 20 Under 40, Class of 2017, by the Times Record News.

Lauren is married to James McKechnie, an attorney for the City of Wichita Falls. Together they have a young son, as well as two misbehaved and overly spoiled dachshunds.

Leslie Rhodes

Branch Relations Manager

Leslie joined TCCU in February of 2009 as one of our Member Service Representatives.  In 2011, Leslie moved into the Internal Audit position where she remained until May of 2017 when she moved back into the operations department as our Branch Relations Manager.  Leslie oversees our Relationship Bankers and Call Center staff working closely with COO Angie Ohmstede.

Leslie graduated from Midwestern State University in 2006 with a Bachelor in Business Administration majoring in Accounting.  In the summer of 2017, she graduated from Southwest CUNA Management School and in the Fall of the same year obtained her CIS-I designation (Certified IRA Specialist). In 2018, Leslie completed her CIS-II designation further enhancing her IRA knowledge.

Leslie was born and raised in Wichita Falls. She and her husband have two children. In their free time they enjoy being together with friends and enjoy being outside and around water.
