John C. Buckley, II is chosen as Texoma Community Credit Union’s new Chief Operations Officer (COO). John joins TCCU from PosTel Family Credit Union, Wichita Falls Texas where he served as its President & CEO for almost two decades.
John began his credit union service in April 1984 as a MSU student by working part-time for Texoma Community Credit Union (TCCU) as a teller and later a collections officer. Union Square FCU hired him away as collections officer and later Assistant Vice President. In April 1995 John accepted a new challenge and was named president & CEO of Telco Federal Credit Union, then a $7 million credit union. Soon thereafter Postal Credit Union sought a merger partner. John’s progressive thinking Board of Directors agreed to create PosTel Family Credit Union, now a $70 million credit union. In the next several years two other credit unions asked Mr. Buckley for assistance to merge their credit unions into PosTel Family Credit Union. John has followed his board’s spirit and principle of “people helping people”.
“It is clear to me,” TCCU president Wayne Mansur reflected, “that God’s hand is in this process. Our Management Team prayed over each candidate we interviewed, asking Him to guide our decision.” The choice became clear that a servant who has helped credit unions for almost 30 years, who is a former TCCU employee, who is President & CEO of a local credit union is the perfect employee for TCCU’s COO’s work. Most of all, John Buckley is highly respected and admired in Wichita Falls, in credit unions and is friends with TCCU Management Team. “God has blessed TCCU in this choice,” Mansur remarked.
John has served as a director of the Wichita Falls Chapter of Credit Union many times. He was Texas’ representative in 1995 to the Children’s Miracle Network national celebration where he delivered a $3,000,000 gift to help CMN efforts. Reflecting upon this work Buckley said, “It is an honor and privilege to do whatever I can to help others. Putting together a golf tournament, establishing a Skip-A-Payment program or simply making a personal gift, I am blessed to help children.”
Mr. Buckley is dedicated to education. After earning his Bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University in Finance he realized the value in securing a deep specific knowledge of credit union management. He graduated with honors from the Southwest CUNA Management School in 1995.
John cherishes giving back to his community. He has been or is an active member of Wichita Falls Optimist Club and its past President, Boys & Girls Club, United Way of Wichita Falls, First Christian Church incoming Board Chairman in 2015, River Bend Nature Center, Southside Youth Center and a youth sports coach.
CEO Mansur and the TCCU Management Team is praying for blessing for John, his wife Susan, and their two daughters in the new mission.
