Making Miracles Happen

With the help of our members, Texoma Community Credit Union is making miracles happen for some local children.  In May TCCU staff presented an $8,000 check to local Children’s Miracle Network specialist Suzanne Stone.

Every penny of the donation will stay in the Texoma community.   “Just in 2010 alone over 2100 children were born at United Regional, over 15,000 were treated in our Emergency Department and over 580 were admitted and discharged from the pediatric unit,” Stone says, “Each and every one of them used equipment that was provided by Children’s Miracle Network.  From the needles to blood pressure cuffs, beds to ventilators, all the equipment necessary to treat children is smaller and unique to them.”

If it weren’t for the kind hearts of the Texoma community to help purchase that equipment, the only option for those children and their families would be to travel to Oklahoma City, Fort Worth or Dallas for care.

“Thanks to the generosity of our community members like you our children are able to stay close to home to receive the care they need.  The added expense of travel, hotel stays, food costs, and the separation of the family are just a few of the many additional stressors added when a child is sick and has to be cared for elsewhere,” Stone says.

The donation of $8,000 comes from the enrollment costs when members sign up for the Skip-a-Pay program. Credit Unions have been a strong supporter of Children’s Miracle Network and TCCU has been contributing to this effort for nearly 15 years.
